A crispy, sunny start to the day- this is when London is quite fantastic.
I ran to Preen through the beaming sunlight this morning (impromptu workout, loved it!) but I missed the start and instead had my own strange private view of the show from outside the large glass windows of the Natural History museum location. The best is seeing kind sweet designers overjoyed and overwhelmed with teary eyes and huge smiles - that’s what I saw when I hugged lovely Justin and Thea backstage right after - those sweet moments are what keep us human amongst all of this.
Margaret Howell followed, and delivered all the sleek farmhouse-elegance in proper fabric that I love every time and keeps me fixated with the brand.
At this point, the amount of people attempting to take off my cool Resort 14 Pringle bomber (Ottoman stitch knit!) I’m wearing as a sweater has doubled… I’ll let you guess the number.
‘Popped’ to Smythson to see my friendly POP magazine team and drink cucumber juice with them whilst discussing upcoming shoots… This gives me deep joy and has my imagination geared-up for more plans…
Mulberry completed my morning, Emma Hill’s last show - with lots more tears from her and her design team - proudly cheering and sharing this moment backstage. I got into deep conversation with my number 1 ultimate girl-in-film, the Epic - Brit Marling (if you haven’t seen any of her films, I order you to, immediately). A high injection of film talk with my current hero was the greatest bonus to my day. I’ve asked her to make a film in London… Let’s see… Plus I’m told, 'when paths cross, they then cross again.’
I, by accident, got into a Cara-scrum outside - we were having a chat and then the photographers and fans threw themselves at her and I literally hit the floor to duck out (workout number 2). I’m not sure how I feel about her fan base… They lack empathy.
More shows later.
